An all sativa switch, which this range rarely builds

Blue Matcha, Acai Berry and Sour Slush are all sativa leaning, and that makes this one of the few V5 devices with no wind down position anywhere on it. Most triple tank products hedge. This one commits, and the consequence is a device that is genuinely useful during the working part of a day and not much use at the end of one.

Worth being blunt about that before anything else. If you buy pens to switch off with, this is the wrong listing and there are several better options in the range. If you have been frustrated by devices where two thirds of the oil sits unused because you never want the heavy tanks, this is the fix.

Blue Matcha

Blue Matcha is the most unusual flavour on the device and the reason a lot of people find this listing. Green tea character, a vegetal, faintly grassy quality, and a blue fruit note laid over the top of it rather than mixed through. It is not sweet and it is not fruity in the ordinary sense.

It reads clean and slightly dry, and it is the position that clears the palate fastest of the three. That makes it useful as a reset even for people who would not name it as their favourite.

Expect it to divide a room. Blue Matcha is the sort of flavour that people either single out as the best thing in the catalogue or quietly avoid, and there is very little middle ground. Trying it is the only way to find out which camp you are in.

Acai Berry

Acai Berry brings the fruit. Dark berry with a tart edge and none of the sugar that berry cuts usually carry, which fits a device built around brightness rather than sweetness. Of the three it is the one that behaves most like a conventional flavour and it is where new users of this device tend to spend their first day.

It has more body than Blue Matcha without being heavy, so it works as a middle position and does not overpower whatever follows it.

Sour Slush

Sour Slush is the sharpest of the three. Acidic, cold, and sweet only in the way a frozen drink is sweet, with the sourness sitting right at the front. It is the tank that wakes the palate up hardest and the one most likely to be described as too much by someone expecting a fruit cut.

Used deliberately it is the most valuable position on the device, because it resets everything. Used constantly it becomes tiring. Somewhere between those is where most owners land.

Living with a device that has no evening tank

The practical adjustment is that this pen gets put down rather than switched. On a mixed trio the end of a day means moving the selector. Here it means reaching for something else entirely, and buyers who do not plan for that end up disappointed with a perfectly good product.

The upside is real, though. Because none of the three coats the palate, all three stay legible for the full life of the device. There is no sugar accumulation, no flavour fatigue by week two, and no position that has to be saved for a particular hour. You can switch freely and in any order, which is not true of most configurations in this range.

It also changes what a second device looks like. Owners of this one very often end up pairing it with a heavier trio rather than replacing it, using one during the day and the other at night. That is a more sensible way to cover a full day than buying a single hedged device that does neither end particularly well.

Specification, price and storage

V5 hardware: three sealed tanks, one mechanical selector, a stated capacity of 2g, liquid live diamonds as the extract, USB-C recharging. Fixed strains, no refilling, no servicing. The unit is finished when the oil is.

The price shown at the time of writing was 30 dollars, reduced from a list price of 35 dollars, for the complete device. That number can change, and the live listing rather than this paragraph is what governs.

Storage deserves more attention here than on a sweeter trio, because everything that makes these three cuts worth buying is volatile. The green note in Blue Matcha, the tartness in Acai Berry and the acidity in Sour Slush all degrade with heat, and a device left in a warm car for an afternoon will come back tasting like three versions of mild fruit. Upright, indoors, room temperature.

For a neutral description of testing, labelling and consumer rights in a regulated market, California’s Department of Cannabis Control consumer pages are among the clearer public resources available.

Questions on the Blue Matcha configuration

Does Blue Matcha actually taste of matcha? There is a genuine green tea character to it, yes. It is the least fruit driven flavour on the device.

Is there anything here for the end of the day? Not really. All three lean sativa. That is the design, not an oversight.

Is Sour Slush harsh? Sharp rather than harsh, and only if you draw hard. A slower pull softens it considerably.

Which tank suits a first draw? Acai Berry. It is the most conventional of the three and the gentlest introduction to the device.

Does the order of use matter here? Less than on any other trio in the range, because nothing coats the palate. Switch freely.

Will all three tanks empty evenly? More evenly than on most configurations, because none of the positions is reserved for a particular hour.
