How to narrow the seven down

Start with what you want the device to do rather than with which strain names you recognise, because that is where most buyers go wrong.

If you want one pen that works across a full day, look at the mixed combinations. Pink Z with Dragon Fruit and Tropicana spans tropical and citrus with a sativa at one end, and Arctic Frost with Rocket Pop and Tropic Haze runs cold, then sweet, then herbal, which covers a lot of ground on one body.

If you only use a pen in the evening, the Italian Ice combination is the one to look at, since it ends on an indica and the other two positions are unfussy hybrids.

If you dislike sweetness, there are two answers here. Sour Tangie with NYC Sour and Passion Fruit is the sharpest thing on the list and does not go near dessert territory. Blue Matcha with Acai Berry and Sour Slush is the other, greener and more vegetal, with a green tea character in the first position that is unlike anything else in the range.

If you want something that will be liked by everyone in a room, Pink Haze with Candy Land and Straw Haze splits the difference between herbal and sweet, though two haze positions is more haze than some people want.

Maui Wowie is one of the oldest names still in circulation, a tropical sativa with a light, sweet character and none of the fuel or dessert weight that dominates the modern catalogue. Gelato 41 is the opposite end: creamy, rich, and the reference point for a whole generation of dessert cuts. Mango Melon sits between them with soft tropical fruit and enough body to bridge the two.

Old school sativa, benchmark dessert hybrid, and a fruit cut connecting them. It is the widest spread of the seven and the most interesting combination on the page if you already know what you like.

Hardware, price and what turns up

Whichever combination you select, the device is identical. V5 generation, three sealed tanks, one mechanical selector on the face, a stated capacity of 2g, liquid live diamonds as the extract and USB-C recharging.
